The lingering burn scar over Holman is clearly visible in this aerial photo, captured straight above the valley. Along the bottom, NM-518 winds up Holman Hill. The 2022 Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire consumed roughly 534 square miles across the region. Taken in the spring of 2026 following a dry winter, the photo reveals sparse snowpack on the highest peaks that is unlikely to last through August.
