Mora County is informing the public the Mora County MVD has been temporarily closed since July 20, 2026 in connection to an ongoing investigation by the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division’s Tax Fraud Investigation Division.
At the time of the investigation Mora County’s access to the statewide MVD system was restricted for the county’s full-time employees. That action caused the suspended operations at the Mora MVD.
The county expresses their understanding of the inconvenience the suspension has caused residents who rely on MVD services and the Board of County Commissioners are currently in the process of hiring a new MVD Manager and the County hopes to resume operations in the near future.
Mora County is not in a position to comment on the substance or status of the investigation.
Mora County Administration will provide additional information regarding the reopening of the Mora DMV office as it becomes available.
